  • .NET Tour UY

With the support of local companies in conjunction with the Technological School Anima and Microsoft, we intend to generate this instance to develop the interest of young people to new technologies. From our position, we seek to help the human and professional development of these young people, encouraging them in their learning process and giving them the message that in two or three years they can be part of the IT industry.

    SOLID principles code kata

    Capacity: 40
Requirements: Notebook with Visual Studio 2013/2015, productivity tool of your choice (ReSharper, Code Rush, nothing)

For two hours attendees will learn about the SOLID principles of software development by writing code. Attendees will take a base application and refactor different parts of it to adhere to the different principles espoused by Robert C. Martin. As principles are introduced new steps will be added to a kata that attendees will be able to continually practice as they hone their skills and understanding of these fundamental building blocks for software development.
  • Coffee break

    Azure Mobile Services Jumpstart

    Capacity: 40
Requirements: Notebook, Visual Studio 2013 Pro with Update 4 or Visual Studio 2015 Pro (Windows Store and / or Windows Phone 8.1 tooling), Windows 8.1 Pro or Enterprise, An Azure Subscription (free trial: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/free-trial/ )

In this workshop you will get a head start on building mobile applications that use Azure for their back end. You will see how to store and retrieve data, log users into your application, and send push notifications to users devices or browsers. I'll walk users through setting up a mobile service, creating tables and working with data. Then, time permitting, we'll setup login with Azure Active Directory and add push notifications to a browser app in Chrome.
  • Coffee break

    Type Provider Treasure Hunt Dojo

    Capacity: 40
    Requirements: Notebook, Visual Studio

This Dojo introduces F# type providers using those from the F# Data library. The goal of the Dojo is to find 7 secret words to find a secret phrase! To find each word, you need to solve a simple data access task using type providers - such as read XML document, perform JSON-based REST request or read data from the WorldBank; then perform simple processing to find the right word in the result and find the secret phrase! The Dojo comes with a script file containing 7 tasks - to make this a bit harder, the words are not in the original order, so you need to get most of them to find the secret phrase.

    How to run the Dojo
The Dojo comes with a guided script with samples that can be adjusted. Some of the tasks are fairly easy, some require a bit more F# skills. The Dojo works best if the audience collaborates to solve the puzzle - split into groups and work on the different words in parallel, then put the results together! If you split into 7 groups, you can solve the puzzle in about 1 hour. With more time, each group can find multiple words.

Uruguay

A naturally friendly country

Montevideo

The capital of Uruguay, harmoniously combines modernity and tradition. Ancient architectural treasures such as el Cabildo, the Iglesia Matriz and the Puerta de la Ciudadela, styles such as Art Nouveau and Art Deco and cutting-edge modern buildings such as the Torre de las Comunicaciones, give the city a unique identity. The capital’s Rambla (waterfront promenade), providing access to over 30 km of coastline, is one of the main attributes of Montevideo and an unforgettable stroll for its inhabitants who frequently go there to drink ‘mate’ (South American style of tea) and go for long walks, runs and biking. In addition, the vast number of green spaces, parks and gardens also provide numerous outdoor options.

Check the F.A.Q. for tips on how to get around the city.
